Calling all Decorators!

What to do with this mantel.....
As you can see right now it's just cluttered with random things that I don't know
where else to put.

I made this sweet mirror from THIS tutorial, with some added little mirrors

Close up for my momma...

So, what do I do with all that mantel space?? (It's seriously like 6 ft long)

well, I love the mirror-I'll have to make one! I'm not sure what to tell ya about the mantel, I think I would have to be there to get the "feel" of the whole room, but I agree it needs something big and not so much little stuff. I like the books and fam picture idea-I'll keep thinking on it!

I made some glass things I like. If there is a dollar store there:) I got 2 different size tall round kind of like vases then 2 candle holders and used super glue to glue the vases onto the candle stick holders. Then I put things into the jars to coordinate with holidays or whatever. I also put a candle with them. You could do that on one side of the mantle and some books or something on the other side.

I would say to keep the mantle simple with a handful of items, maybe 6-8 of your favorite things or so. When you stand back and look at it, see if one side is visually more heavy than the other and take away or add as needed.

To make your cute mirror stand out more and to use up that wall space, you could use different colored paint and paint a big square on the wall, hang your mirror in the middle of the square, then frame it with molding. Kind of like this:

Just an idea there. Miss seeing that kiddo of yours. Your home looks good!
